Hello, welcome to the Premier League Draft Game. Basically, 16 players have spent the last few weeks picking players to make a team (you can see how they did it in this thread pldraftgame.freeforums.net/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=2 ). and they are now ready to go head-to-head against each other to win your vote - which do you think is the better team? The voter has both the squad-sheet and the bios/tactics to consider!
The key rule for this edition of the game is that players are to be judged on the basis of their performances in the Premier League - so what they did in other leagues, in cup competitions or on the international stage is not directly relevant here.
Additionally, voters are requested to please justify the votes you cast: an explanation of why you voted for the team you did would be much appreciated and would add to the game as a whole. If you vote but don't justify your selection, then that vote may be discarded when totting up the final results. Please vote and adhere to the rules on each match thread.
Good luck to Andy and Ben!

Shay Given - 440 Premier League appearances, and 125 international caps - There's not been many more consistent goalkeepers in the premier League than Shay. Named in the Premier League Team of the Season for 01/02 and 05/06, it showed what a great goalkeeper he could be, lightning reflexes and a brilliant shot stopper were just some of his attributes.
Kyle Walker - At just 22 years old, Walker already has 76 premier league appearances under his belt, and has quickly made a name for himself as Spurs' first choice right back. He won the Championship with QPR in 10/11, was named in the U21 Euro Championships team of the tournament in the same year, and also won PFA Young Player of the Year in 2012, as well as being named in their team of the year. A fairly solid full back, who is also great at going forward.
Leighton Baines - Another full back chosen for their attacking potential, as well as being there for defensive duties. He has gotten better and better as the years have gone on, and is currently touted by many as being England's best left back, even ahead of the mighty Ashley Cole. Devastating from set pieces, and a great crosser of the ball, he has everything needed for an attacking full back, and was recently named in the PFA Premier League Team of the Year (11/12).
Kolo Toure - One quarter of the famous Arsenal invincibles team, Toure was once a solid centre back and was integral to Arsenal's 49 game unbeaten run. Winner of the Community shield, FA Cup no less than 3 times, as well as 2 premier league wins, he isn't shy when it comes to showing off his medals.
Johnathan Woodgate - There's a reason Real Madrid signed Woodgate in 2004 - often spoken of as one of England's best ever defenders who never got to show his full potential due to injury. He made his name at Leeds, before moving onto Newcastle where he soon became a fans favourite. He was tactically aware, and could nulify the threat of most attacking players in his day.
David Luiz - Primarily a central defender in recent years, I have selected him in his preferred position of midfield. In his few displays in this position he has shown how well he can boss the midfield. Great on the ball, he has a great vision when making a pass, and does extremely well when needed to get a tackle in or intercept to cut up the play. AFter only signing for Chelsea in Jan 2011, he has already helped them to a Champions League and FA Cup win. While at Benfica he won the Portugese League in 09/10 and the cup 3 seasons running 08/09 - 10/11. He was voted Primeira Liga player of the year in 09/10.
Michael Carrick - A fantastic deep lying play maker who is currently in the prime of his life. People often wonder why he hasn't played for England more, given how good he is at picking out a run, holding the ball up and making an interception. He's the man that United have been looking for to replace Paul Scholes and is now showing why. He has helped United to 4 Premier League titles, the league cup, Community shield 4 times, Fifa Club World cup in 2008 as well as the Champions League win in 07/08. With the attacking threat in this team he has plenty to aim at and will do a great job
Georgi Kinkladze - Not a player with lots of titles and cups to his name while playing for Man City, but was voted player of the year 2 years running - '96 - '97. He was exquisite on the ball, often carving open the opposition teams midfield and then defence before a cool finish to end. This player had all kinds of flair, and with 2 holding mids behind, has all the time to show the opposition what hes made of.
Matt Le Tissier - A bit like Carrick, people often wonder why he didn't get more caps for England. Loyal to Southampton, I doubt many would argue he'd have medals coming out of his ears if he had opted to leave. A natural born goalscorer, who would often produce a goal out of nothing, and rarely scored a tap in. A great penalty taker with 47 converted from 48 attempts. He was the first midfielder to score 100 goals in the prem.
Gianfranco Zola - Opting to play Zola just behind Torres. One of the greatest players to play in the Premier League, let alone for Chelsea. A host of winners medals to his name - Fa Cup (2), Charity shield, league cup, UEFA Cup Winners Cup, and the UEFA Super Cup. A player with flair to spare, he would often create chances for team mates, as well as burying the ball in the back of the net himself.
Fernando Torres - The Liverpool Torres of course, not that thing that plays for Chelsea. A regular goalscorer for both club and country in his prime, he had a natural eye for goal, following some superb runs in behind the defence. His record for Liverpool was better than a goal every 2 games - 102 appearances - 65 goals, a phenomenal record, and just goes to show how good he once was.
Tactics
4-2-3-1
2 = Luiz, Carrick
3 = Kinkladze, Le Tissier, Zola
1 = Torres of course
Fairly narrow formation, with the 2 attacking fullbacks bombing forward to provide width with Luiz holding, and Carrick playing a deep lying playmaker role to allow the 3 in front to work their magic

Team Tactics
I believe my team to have the perfect balance to be a complete team. My team will play a rigid system in which the defenders will defend and the attackers will attack – simple eh?!
The team is built on a quality back 4 in front of the best ever Premier League Goalkeeper by far Peter Schmeichel. Call me old fashioned but I want my defenders to defend, not go roaming *cough* Glen Johnson. Defensively all my defenders are quality and can deal with any attacking threat quickly giving the ball to a more attacking player. Lucas Radebe, Colin Hendry, Gael Clichy & Des Walker will provide a reliable backbone to my team.
Both combative centre midfielders Dennis Wise and Didi Hamann complement each other. Big man Hamann can play as anchor man in front of the back four and can pick out a pass. Wise shall be a complete box to box midfielder, never stops running makes important tackles as well as being a prolific goal scorer himself.
David Ginola and Juninho can run, pass, cross, shoot and will be a nightmare to deal with as they can interchange positions and roam freely knowing they will not leave the team exposed because of the disciplined defenders. These players need to have the freedom because in the tight system my team will play, sparks will be created out of nothing and supply the formidable strike force.
Strong, Pacey combination of Drogba and Fowler will cause every defence insane problems. Drogba can hold the ball up can pick a pass, attack headers, while Fowler has pace, awareness and is the most natural finisher the Premier League has seen. Fowler can score off scraps while Drogba can take players out of the game and win the ball aerially every time.
